Illustrating Brawl Stars
We have been working for a long time alongside Supercell to support them in the creation of social media illustrations across all their games. Brawl Stars in particular presented several opportunities to showcase the characters in fun and action-packed situations, while contributing to the lore of the game.
In 2022 alone, we created over 25 unique Brawl Stars images, and yes, it was as much fun as it sounds. Working in collaboration with the Supercell creative team, we visualised their ideas and brought them to life with interesting stories about characters, new game features and events. And what’s most important, fans absolutely loved our work!
NEW BRAWLER RELEASE: GUS
Supercell asked us to introduce a new character, Gus, into the Brawl Stars world with an illustration that would capture his personality and showcase the Ghost Station environment, a new in-game map.
Gus is a lonely and quiet kid who got lost when he visited Starr Park, he doesn’t talk much, and when he does, it’s mainly with his balloons. 🎈
The client had a few requirements for this image:
It had to be set in an abandoned train station, with ghoulish green fog;
Subtle hints to ghosts in the background;
Ghost Squeak hidden within the image;
Feature his in-game weaponry, his Balloon in hand, and the dog balloon nearby;
Add Easter Eggs, like boxes of Tower Pizza and Starr Burgers.
As always in our illustration process, we begin by presenting alternative options of sketches that nail the clients’ concept. We’ll discuss favourites and make several iterations of the preferred route until we land on a final approved sketch, which will become our glorious final full-colour illustration.
MOVIE POSTER SERIES
We created a series of Brawl Stars images inspired by the audiences' love of movies & real life movie posters! To make it timely, we posted some of them on the same day of the films’ cinematic release.
Fans of the films and Brawl Stars loved our interpretations. These cultural crossovers were a great way for us to branch out into different art styles and incorporate our Brawl Stars characters and Easter Eggs into a different world.
