Marketing iconic titles
When we started Waste ten years ago, SEGA was our first client, and we’ve produced digital creative to market SEGA’s titles ever since. We work across all of their core businesses, including Sonic, Creative Assembly and Sports Interactive.
Our global work spans launch strategy, display, content, websites and social. We’ve developed rich interactive content for one of the most iconic computer game characters ever, Sonic the Hedgehog. We’ve made microsites for Football Manager. We’ve created rich display homepage takeovers for Alien vs Predator, among many others.
So, when they needed a new type of advertising format for their new game, Total War: Warhammer, they turned to us.
We love big. Big audiences. Big ideas. Big games. And that’s exactly what this game is: big. The original Total War series focused on real-time strategy in realistic historical settings, while the Total War: Warhammer series introduces the incredible fantasy world of Warhammer, filled with dwarfs, orcs, vampires, humans and immense weaponry. The result is expected to be one of the biggest strategy games in the world.
the Sonic timeline
That world famous hedgehog always deserves to be celebrated. Our idea was to capture that affection and create a timeline - accessed through Facebook - where users could watch the evolution of Sonic over the years in a lush, dynamic environment - and share, like and comment to their heart’s content.
When Mario and Sonic came to London
To celebrate the London 2012 Olympics, we brought Mario and Sonic to the capital. We built a global website, (localised to eight languages) that let users navigate through some of London’s most iconic landmarks and let them see a host of game characters in some very unexpected places. And, not only did we create nearly all of the assets for the site, we also produced an EFIGS digital banner suite that sent these icons far and wide – engaging people with these awesome characters during the biggest sporting event in the world. Not bad, eh?
Two Alien icons. One high impact homepage takeover.
Our in-house VFX team re-cut the game trailer to recreate the suspense and tension of the game. As the battles between the factions unravels on screen, the action bursts from the trailer, damaging the IGN page with bullets, grenades and Predator punches. Pretty cool.
A decade of work and still going strong
We have an amazing relationship that’s ten years young and going strong.
